Fall

Written by Katherine Lindsay

Autumn is a time when leaves change,
When the breezes are dry, and the wind whispers your name
The crispy, dried up leaves crunch under your boots,
Autumn is a time when you relax, let loose.

The bark of the lifeless trees
feel like sandpaper, or the sting of a million bees
the stillness of Autumn
is like the painting of a landscape.

The frozen dew sits upon the grass
tricks us all into thinking snow has fallen
just a thin layer of snow, no thicker than an eyelash
Even then, it’s a beautiful sight, many glances will be stolen.

Even in the chill of fall, when trees seem dead and bare,
Autumn is a time of joy, not only despair.
Even if our roofs moan under the cold
we’ll have fires that shine like gold.

In Autumn, the cold, dry air stings your eyes and bites your nose,
During an Autumn’s sunset, the usual gray, gloomy sky, turns a beautiful dose!
A dose of orange, yellow, red, and pink,
so many breath-taking colors that come and go in a blink.

The scent of pine fills the air,
pine needles, pine cones, pine trees
beautiful fragrances take up the air
Scented candles daze your nose,
Scented like pies, cinnamon, apples, and a rose.

But most of all in this wonder called fall,
Our hopes stay high,
Our worries drift by,
along with the wind’s sigh.
The crisp cold,
The flawless rustle of leaves,
The graceful dance of the wind,
and the bare tree trunks,
with snapping twigs for our fire,
are some of the awe-inspiring wonders of Autumn!
