Sometimes at night, I’d lay awake
Thinking thoughts of
every mistake I’d ever made,
Of Friendships bound to break
For every word wasted,
Every speech spoken
Every heart broken
Every thought stolen
There’s a wisp of regret
A trace of shame
The weight of blame
Placed on one’s name.
To steal one’s idea,
To take their thoughts,
To rob them of what they believe,
Despite what our society has taught,
Is to stray from the divine, independent human you are meant to be,
And rob yourself of the thoughts you know you are capable of.
