On Trees and Grass

Written by Anika Chandd

Swaying lifelessly in the wind,
easily rutted up in storm.

Why are you pushed around so easily?

Why so easy to let down?

Standing brave, and tall
turns out to be false
You a tree so grand
Can be teased mercilessly.

The grass, short and stout
cannot be put down
for the floods overlap them,
and they are out of lighting’s reach.

Why can you not be more like grass, trees?
Or why can’t you be like the sweet, cheerful flowers,

that bloom in the meadows?
Why are you bullied so easily?
